Pecorino Cheese and Drizzled Honey on Toast Squares

Your Home and Lifestyle Magazine

Makes 10 to 12 toasts

  • 10 to 12 slices of Italian bread
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 ounces pecorino cheese
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup finely chopped hazelnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the crust off each slice of bread so the pieces are square. Brush each square with the olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake them for about 3 to 5 minutes or until they are golden brown on the edges.

Slice the pecorino cheese and place 1 to 2 slices in the center of each toast square. Place the baking sheet back into the oven for another 2 to 3 minutes or until the cheese is soft and slightly melted. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the toasts cool for 1 to 2 minutes and then transfer to a platter. Drizzle the toasts with honey and then garnish with the chopped hazelnuts. Serve warm.
