"Starting this Saturday, we return to regular hours, which are 9am to 1pm." The line ran in the October 3 newsletter for The Woodlands Farmers Market. It sat just below a note inviting shoppers to "stay for lunch."
The extra hour is a bigger deal than it sounds. The market sets up in the Grogan's Mill Village Center lot at 7 Switchbud Place, and the Kevin Brady Library shares that lot. On every Saturday left in October, the library has a program running in or right up to the market's last hour. From now through Halloween, the Village Center doesn't wind down at noon anymore. It carries straight through lunch.
The Hour That Came Back
The Woodlands Township's market listing gives two schedules, rain or shine. Hours run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from October through June and 9 a.m. to noon from July through September. The Grogan's Mill Village Association's own page draws the line a month earlier and puts June in the shorter summer schedule. Both sources agree on October.
The Grogan's Mill Village Association sponsors the market and puts its profits back into the community through its philanthropic programs. The Township lists college scholarships and the Interfaith Food Pantry among them. The market requires agricultural and artisan vendors to grow or make what they sell. With more than 60 vendors in rotation, it announces each week's lineup in a newsletter that goes out every Friday.
The October 3 lineup shows how much of the market works as a lunch stop and not only as a produce run. Here is a sample from that week. The roster changes every Saturday.
| Category | Some of the October 3 vendors |
|---|---|
| Produce and eggs | Agricola Family Farm, Atkinson Farm, Root 1867, TKF Mushrooms, Watkins Pecans |
| Meat | A Better Way Beef, Hibiscus Hill |
| Prepared food | Angela's Oven, Bulgogi Billy's, Granny's Tamales, Manish's Indian Food, Pasteko, SamMi Sandwiches |
| Sweets | Hazel Loves Pie, Bite Me Cupcakes, Navarro Gluten-Free Bakery, Pelican's Snoballs |
| Drinks | Alchimia Coffee, Cold Press Co., The Spot Lemonade |
| Garden and services | Plantonic Friends Nursery, Dynamite Dan's Plants, Happy Earth Compost |
| Food truck | Hangry Pinoy |
Prepared food and sweets made up more of that week's list than produce did. Kim Kyle and Willie B played live music that morning. Hangry Pinoy brought traditional Filipino food to the food truck spot.
Two Buildings, One Lot
The Kevin Brady Library opened on September 2, 2025, at 2250 Buckthorne Place. It took over the Village Center site of a Randalls store that closed in 2020, Community Impact reported. Montgomery County's library page mentions the market directly and says the parking lot hosts a farmers market every Saturday. The library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, so it opens with the market and stays open four hours after the last vendor leaves.
GMVA says the Village Center has plenty of parking. It also points to a way in that skips the lot entirely: walkers and cyclists can come off Mill Bend Trail through the underpass beneath Grogan's Mill Road.
There's also a new storefront in the same strip. Hourani's Barbershop opened October 1 at 7 Switchbud Place, Suite 191, offering haircuts, coloring and keratin treatments, skincare and waxing, Community Impact reported. Uni Sushi has the suite next door, Suite 190, but its opening is set for 2027, so it won't be part of this fall's lunch options.
Four Saturdays, Four Different Second Acts
The market hours are the same every week. What changes each Saturday is what happens inside the library while the market is still running.
- October 10. READ with the Dogs runs 10 to 11 a.m., right in the middle of the market. The Friends of the Library newsletter calls it an every-second-Saturday program, and the next session is November 14 at 10 a.m.
- October 17. The League of Women Voters hosts a voter information session from 10 a.m. to noon. Family Fun Zone follows from noon to 2 p.m. and starts just as the market heads into its last hour.
- October 24. Pumpkin Patch Crafts runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so it ends at the same time as the market.
- October 31. Life-Size Halloween Portraits runs 11 a.m. to noon on Halloween morning, and the market is also open that day.
Under the summer schedule, the October 17 and October 24 programs would have started or finished with the market already closed. With the 1 p.m. close, both fall inside the shared window.
October 10 Starts Early on Lake Woodlands Drive
The first of those Saturdays shares its morning with the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas, which starts and finishes in the parking lot at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive. The kids' fun run starts at 7 a.m., the 5K at 7:30 a.m., the wheelchair division at 7:35 a.m. and the 10-mile race at 7:40 a.m.
The Township's race page lists closures from 6 to 10:30 a.m. These include the inside lane of Lake Woodlands Drive between Lakeside Boulevard and Golden Sage Drive, eastbound Lake Woodlands from East Panther Creek to Lake Front Circle, and the eastbound lanes of the Lake Woodlands bridge. Eastbound traffic gets detoured at East Panther Creek to Woodlands Parkway. Roads reopen on a rolling basis and all must be open by 10:30 a.m. Grogan's Mill Road and Woodlands Parkway are not on the closure list. The race-day traffic hotline is 281-210-2099.
The market opens at 9 a.m., while the closures are still in place. On this one Saturday, the Mill Bend Trail underpass is a way to reach Switchbud Place without driving on any of the race roads.
October 24 Runs Until Dark
The Pumpkin Patch Crafts Saturday is also the one where things pick up again in the evening. The Grogan's Mill Village Association's free Fall Festival starts at 6 p.m. at Sawmill Park with face painting, pumpkin decorating, a fall family photo spot, popcorn and lemonade. Costumes are encouraged for kids and adults. Hocus Pocus starts on the big screen at 7 p.m., so bring blankets and lawn chairs. Parking is near the Sawmill Park tennis courts. The Township lists the park at 2200 Millpark Drive.
Put together, that Saturday runs on village programming from the 9 a.m. market opening through the end of an outdoor movie, with one afternoon break between the library crafts and the festival.
After October
November opens on a first Saturday, November 7, which means the market's "Old Coots Giving Advice" table will be back. It's a monthly, screen-free gathering where neighbors over 65 sit in shaded rocking chairs and answer whatever questions younger visitors bring. The library holds a Puzzle Swap that afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m.
Weekend plans around the Village Center can also shape how a home near it is presented. When we market a Grogan's Mill home, we include what's within walking distance, like the Mill Bend Trail underpass and the Saturday lot at Switchbud Place, because buyers ask about those details. If you'd like to know how your home's location factors into its value this fall, The Brownstone Group is happy to walk you through it. Start with Get Your Home Value.
