That is the version of the village that shows up on a map. It is not the version most residents actually live in. The one that matters runs on a quieter calendar of second Sundays, first Thursdays, and one December week when a group of volunteers drives your street with a clipboard. The Sunday That Belongs To The Colonnade
The Sterling Ridge Village Association sponsors the Sterling Ridge Artisans and Farmers Market on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at The Colonnade Shopping Center at 30420 FM 2978. The vendor mix leans toward farmers, specialty produce, food purveyors, arts and crafts, and novelty sellers rather than a repeat of what is already inside Kroger a mile east. The detail worth remembering: proceeds from the market are directed to the three elementary schools inside the village and to first-year scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Buying a bag of peaches at The Colonnade is, in a small way, a school fundraiser.
If Sunday afternoon does not fit your week, the closest working alternative is the Tamina Community Market, established in 2017 and located just outside Sterling Ridge. It runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with 40 to 50 vendors, including local growers like Vincent Farms and Silver Oaks Farm. The most useful new arrival within an easy Sterling Ridge drive is On The Kirb, which opened on November 15, 2025 at 6777 Woodlands Pkwy, Suite 100, over in Indian Springs. It is the brand's fifth and largest location and reads more like a city hangout than a suburban chain box: organic-leaning menu, sports bar side, and a dog-friendly "Rescue Menu" with proceeds going to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. For Sterling Ridge residents, the practical value is that it fills a Tuesday-night gap that used to require driving to Hughes Landing or Market Street. You can be there in under ten minutes from most of the village.
That opening sits inside a larger 2026 pattern worth naming. Houston chefs and brands are picking The Woodlands for their next locations rather than expanding inside the loop, and the Waterway is absorbing most of the marquee arrivals. Lankford's, the roughly 90-year-old Midtown burger institution, is opening its third location at 24 Waterway Ave. in the former Baja Cantina space, targeted for January 2026. Bari Ristorante, whose first location debuted in the River Oaks District in 2023, is building its second at 24 Waterway Ave., Suite 125, in the former TRIS space, with an early-2026 opening. Bar Bludorn, Aaron Bludorn's first restaurant outside central Houston, is slated for 25 Waterway Ave. in summer 2026. None of those are in Sterling Ridge. All of them shorten the mental distance between the west side of the village and a genuinely urban night out. If you have been telling out-of-town guests there is nothing worth driving to, you are about a year out of date.
The Two Village Centers, Read Correctly
Sterling Ridge has two shopping centers, and residents use them differently. The main village center at 6606–6800 Woodlands Pkwy is the grocery-and-errand hub: Kroger, Trader Joe's, H-E-B nearby, CVS, Walgreens, 24 Hour Fitness, Petco, Ace Hardware, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Marble Slab, Pei Wei, Wingstop, MOD Pizza. The second center, The Colonnade at FM 2978, is the events hub the Sunday market anchors, and it functions as the western edge of the village's social life. A quiet resident habit worth borrowing: run the loud errands at the Regency center on weekday mornings, and save Colonnade trips for Sunday when the market is up.
The Woodlands Express Park and Ride facility in the village also matters more than a shopping map suggests, and not only for commuters. On March 21, 2026, the Township hosted a free one-day recycling drive-thru at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride from 9 a.m. to noon, collecting items that cannot go in curbside carts. These pop-up collections tend to repeat. If you have a garage corner full of things you cannot legally put at the curb, the Park and Ride is the answer roughly twice a year. The Meeting Nobody Attends, And Why That Is A Small Mistake
The SRVA holds open public meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the RE/MAX office at 6620 Woodlands Parkway. Residents are invited. Most residents do not go. The association is a 15-member volunteer board that acts as a liaison between village residents and The Woodlands Township. It does not collect HOA fees, enforce covenants, or issue property modification permits. What it does do is decide which events happen, which schools receive grant money, and which issues get carried up to Township staff. That last part is the interesting one.
